Expensive

what even the weight of the earth in gold could not afford

Reflection | December 2021

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

What Allah has is expensive.......

In transactions, the item you are buying/selling can be called sil'ah in Arabic, meaning commodity. Something of value. For example, if you have high quality paints and I have low quality paints, yours will be more expensive.

When we want something a bit pricey, we save up for it, or perhaps hope someone will gift it to us on a special occasion.

There is something no one can afford. Even if everyone on earth combined their wealth, they still could not afford an inch of it.
Something so expensive that it's out of our price range.

Be on your guard that the commodity of Allah is precious. Verily the commodity of Allah is Jannah.

What is with Allah is expensive, precious, timeless. Dollars and pounds are not the currency with which it is obtained.

We are not asked to save up every penny. We are asked for something much less than that -- obedience.

I saw a beautiful explanation of this Ḥadīth....
“A very small price, for something very expensive...”
وإنه لثمن قليل جدًا لسلعة غالية جدًا

With winter break right around the corner and a four-day weekend here in the UK, we should consider how we will spend that time. With Ramadan fast approaching, we have an opportunity to prepare.

Jannah is expensive. Ramadan is a time when rewards are multiplied many, many times.

If someone told you that on one particular night, $100 bills would rain from the sky, everyone would be out, clutching as many as they could.

Jannah is so expensive that the weight of this Earth in gold won't be able to afford it.

Even a 'small' good deed may become mountains of goodness in the Hereafter. That's our currency.

Class Notes | December 2021

‘If you have a diamond and take it to the vegetable market, no one is going to buy it. They'll tell you it has no value. It *has* value—you just need to take it to the right market. Take it to the kings. When it comes to good deeds, take it to the King of the kings.

‘Understand that what you learn, and what you do, *nobody* can buy it. People do not have a price for that. 'SubhanAllah' cannot be sold in this universe. 'Alhamdulillah' has no price. This has its *own market* with the King.

‘On the Day of Judgement, a new market will be set. Amazing things. But you can't buy anything there by the dirham and dinar*. The only currency accepted is good deeds. Bring 'SubhanAllah', bring 'Alhamdulillah' that you said in this world.’

—Shaykh Akram *dollar and pound.
